The oldest remaining structure in the Moonbah Valley - a lovingly restored two-bedroom heritage cottage dating back to 1890. Steeped in history and full of character, the Hut features thick timber walls, a wood burning fireplace, and a deep connection to the pastoral history of the Snowy Mountains.

1890 construction, oldest in Moonbah
Built around 1890 as part of the original Moonbah pastoral run, the Hut is a rare survivor — spotted gum shiplap, oak panelling, a corrugated iron roof, granite fireplace and the unmistakable smell of clean air and wood smoke. It has been carefully restored to preserve its heritage character while adding the comforts a modern guest expects.
This is a place for couples, writers, and anyone seeking the deep quiet of the valley. The wood fire crackles in the evening, the stars are extraordinary, and in the morning you can walk straight to the river with a fly rod in hand. It's the Australia that existed before the highways — and it's still here.

Every Hut guest receives complimentary fly fishing rods, reels, and flies. The Moonbah River — one of only six blue-ribbon trout streams on mainland Australia — is a short walk through the paddock. Brown and rainbow trout, platypus at dusk, and not another angler in sight.
